Deadline Monday to register for primary

You have until Monday to register to vote in the Aug. 3 primary.

You can register online at https://www.kdor.org/ voterregistration. Or you can print out a form at www.kssos.org/forms/ elections/voterregistration .pdf. You can also get a form at the Sedgwick County Election Office and most QuikTrips and Dillons stores.

Forms must be turned in or sent to the election office, 510 N. Main, No. 101, Wichita, KS 67203, and postmarked no later than Monday.

To register, you must be a United States citizen and at least 18 by the next election.

Campaign events

* Sharon Fearey will be available to answer voters' questions at two events Saturday.

Fearey will be at the All Occasions Center, 4940 E. 21st St., from 9:30 to 11 a.m. She will be at the Midtown Community Resource Center, 1150 N. Broadway, from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

The events are free and open to the public.

Fearey faces Oletha Faust-Goudeau in the race for the Democratic nomination for the Sedgwick County Commission seat being vacated by Kelly Parks.

* Mike Pompeo plans a campaign rally and tribute to veterans at 2 p.m. Sunday at Col. James Jabara Airport, 3512 N. Webb Road. Pompeo will present an update on his campaign and take questions.

Col. Leo Thorsness, a Medal of Honor recipient, is expected to meet privately with veterans and parents of active duty members before the rally at 1:30 p.m.

Pompeo faces four other candidates in the race for the Republican nomination for the 4th Congressional District seat being vacated by Todd Tiahrt.
