The sound of electric saws punctuated Alan Keimig's words Monday as he talked about the truck that crashed into his bicycle shop on South Broadway over the weekend.
"At least it didn't take out any of my bicycles," Keimig said. "It could have been a lot worse."
A 22-year-old woman lost control of her truck as she was attempting to flee police early Saturday morning, crashing into Tom Sawyer Bicycle Shop at 1960 S. Broadway.
She raced north on Broadway after an officer attempted to pull her over, and she tried to take the corner at Mount Vernon at a high rate of speed.

It didn't work: Her truck crashed into the front of the shop, taking out the windows and the front glass door. If it hadn't been for a beam near the doorway, Keimig said, the truck would have traveled farther into the store and done much more damage.
Keimig said he did not have an estimate on how much damage the crash caused in his shop.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of a variety of offenses.
