Zoning change lets N. Broadway recycler keep operating

Sedgwick County commissioners have approved a zoning change to allow a pallet-recycling company to continue operating on North Broadway.

The commission removed a prohibition on outdoor storage at the site of Triple T Pallets, on the east side of Broadway about one-quarter mile south of 117th Street North.

The business has been operating at the site, originally developed as a swine testing facility, and outdoor storage has gone on there for more than 20 years, according to a county staff report.

Triple T is working with the county to bring the facility into compliance with county codes, the report said.

The change will require the business to screen its outdoor storage, which will be an improvement over current practices there, the report said.

Commission Chairman Kelly Parks said the business provides a needed recycling service.

The zoning change was approved unanimously.
