Last year, principal Anne Clemens had only ideas to present to students interested in attending the new Mueller Aerospace and Engineering Discovery Magnet Elementary School.
At this year's Choices Fair, she will have a bevy of projects engineered by students and stories of students piloting planes in the first year of the program.
Mueller is the Wichita school district's most recent school to start a magnet program. Twenty-four schools have magnet programs, which accept applicants from all over the district.
Students and parents will get a chance to see all of their magnet school options Jan. 12 at the Century II Exhibition Hall.
Applications for most magnet schools are due Feb. 25. Students will be chosen by random selection done by computer.
Families can visit the magnet schools from Jan. 25 to Jan. 29.
Neighborhood magnet schools must take all students in the attendance area before opening seats up to magnet applicants.
A few schools are "open magnets" and require all students to apply for a spot.
Applications for Northeast Magnet High School are due Feb. 19.
