Kansas Coliseum event to feature car show and swap meet

Area racing enthusiasts will get the chance to celebrate the new year with cars, parts and fellow car lovers at the 22nd annual Kansas Auto Racers Auction, Trade Show and Swap Meet.

Saturday's event at the Kansas Coliseum will showcase local auto enthusiasts and national vendors.

"It's a full day of auctioning and trading... "said event organizer Greg Deatherage.

Organizers boast that this event will have something for everyone, from the hot-rod builder to the casual NASCAR fan.

"The event features high-performance race cars and parts and shop equipment for car owners," Deatherage said. "It has an auction, trade show and swap meet all under one roof."

The swap meet portion of the show is new this year, with event organizers adding it based on success at similar shows in Oklahoma.

Deatherage said that while the event focuses on race cars and parts, there will be a wide variety of products and vendors to suit the tastes of any racing enthusiast, including banners, graphics and racing collectibles.

Deatherage said he expects to see around 500 people come through the doors on the day of the show.

"You get a little bit of everything," Deatherage said. "There's everything from tire kickers to spectators buying from the NASCAR vendor."
