Crash kills two on Lincoln during a.m. commute

Wichita police have released the names of the man and woman who were killed in a two-vehicle collision at Lincoln and I-135 during the morning commute Thursday.

Larry W. Tice, 50, and his passenger, 51-year-old Gayla S. Hulse, both died at the scene after the Dodge Stratus they were in was struck by a Ford F-350 pickup on Lincoln next to the ramp to northbound 1-135 at 7:36 a.m., police said.

Tice and Hulse, who both lived in Wichita, were turning left from the westbound lanes of Lincoln when their sedan was hit by the eastbound pickup. They were pinned in the wreckage of the car.

The driver of the pickup and two passengers were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. No charges have been filed in connection with the collision, police said.

The investigation into the accident is continuing.

The deaths raise the number of traffic fatalities worked by police in Wichita this year to 19.
