UPS this week announced a program designed to support small businesses in Kansas that have international aspirations.
The program, called the X-port Challenge, is a collaboration among the logistics company, law firm Dentons and the World Trade Center-Kansas City. Small- and medium-sized businesses in Kansas, Arkansas, Iowa and Missouri are eligible to apply for the program. Ten finalists will be chosen.
Finalists will be invited to participate in a “pitch-off” in August in Kansas City, Mo., with the eventual winner receiving $10,000 in free shipping from UPS, $10,000 in legal services from Dentons and $5,000 in research services from the World Trade Center-Kansas City, according to the release.
Applicants must be residents of one of the four states. They must apply online, the release said, and must specify why their business is prepared for the international market. The second- and third-place finishers will also receive services as prizes.
