Holy Family Medical to move, expand on Hillside

Wichita physician Ronald Ferris has purchased the building at 144 S. Hillside to house his Holy Family Medical Associates practice and an immediate-care office that he will open.

Brenda Thanel, clinic administrator, said Ferris has leased space at 1515 S. Clifton since opening his practice in August 2000.

The building he purchased will give the practice room to expand and to add the immediate care office, she said. It will have extended weekday hours and some weekend hours.

Hutton Construction has begun remodeling work on the building, which has been vacant since HealthSouth closed an imaging center there. Dan Unruh of Insite Realty represented Holy Family Medical Associates in the sale, Thanel said.

She said Ferris had been looking for a building for several months. "The timing was right," she said. "It was time to re-evaluate what our practice goals were and to further expand on them."

She said the building has about 3,000 square feet more space than the current location. About a third of the building will be used for the immediate care office. The practice hopes to move around the end of the year.

Thanel said Ferris wanted a location that was more centrally located and closer to Wesley Medical Center and Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis. The current office is next to Via Christi Hospital on Harry.

In addition to Ferris, the practice is staffed by three nurse practitioners and two physician assistants.

The practice serves primarily Medicaid patients, Thanel said.
