The new occupant for the former A-OK Pawn Shop near Central and Ridge is a familiar one.
It’s the ABC Discount Liquor store from next door.
“We’re just moving 50 feet next door,” says owner Neil Edwards.
“We’ve really just kind of outgrown our space,” he says. “It’s showing its age.”

Edwards says his 5,400-square-foot building was built decades ago for several businesses that shared the space.
“It’s been a liquor store of some sort, I think, since day one,” he says.
He says the store kept taking more and more of the other spaces until it occupied the entire building.
Not all the space is usable, though, so that’s part of the reason Edwards wants to move.
“It’s just kind of choppy.”
The new space is a more updated 5,900 square feet.
Edwards says he hopes to be in by Thanksgiving, but it may be as early as the first week of November.
He says he’s looking for a tenant or tenants to lease his existing space.
The deal for the new space hasn’t closed yet, but Edwards expects it to by the second week of September.
