Baskin-Robbins franchisees Geoff and Candice Lee, who took over the two Wichita Baskin-Robbins stores three years ago, are going to be moving the west-side one.
“We’ve been able to improve and increase business on both sides of town, but we thought something that was holding us back a little bit on the west side is the fact that we don’t have a drive-through,” Geoff Lee says.
Currently, the store is at 2556 N. Maize across from NewMarket Square.
By January, Lee expects to open the new Baskin-Robbins in the former Bud E. Roosters space at 21st and Tyler by the Warren Theatre.

Lee says his east-side Baskin-Robbins in Cambridge Market at 21st and Webb Road has a drive-through and does better than the west-side store.
The new 1,500-square-foot west-side Baskin-Robbins will be about the same size as it is now except for the addition of the drive-through.
“Being near the theater was also a big advantage for us,” Lee says.
He says he expects the business to close only briefly while transitioning between the two sites, which will happen later this year.
Lee says he gets lots of requests for a south-side Baskin-Robbins and is considering it.
“We’re definitely trying to see what’s going to be the best fit for us.”
That could be somewhere just south of Kellogg or as far south as Derby.
The new west-side Baskin-Robbins should be open no later than January.
“We’re starting to get some momentum in our favor,” Lee says.
“We’ve got a really experienced team over there. We’re just ready to get them busy with lots and lots of business.”
