Kamerion Wimbley may be retired from the NFL, but he’s just gearing up in the restaurant business.
Wimbley opened his first Wichita Wings & Things three years ago at 2800 E. Central, which is between Grove and Hillside.
Now, he’s getting ready to open his second at 2624 E. 21st St., near 21st and Grove.
“Basically, just to give back to the community, that’s what Kamerion did all of this for,” says Wings & Things general manager Raven Crawford. “Just for giving back to Wichita through food.”

Wimbley, a Northwest High School graduate, retired from the Tennessee Titans in 2015. He no longer lives in Wichita or works at the restaurant but does return to check in.
Wimbley also owns the Twice As Nice barbershop next to where the new Wings & Things will go.
The restaurant is “really going to be geared to the students in that area,” Crawford says.
For students without cars, she says, “Your options are very limited in that area.”
There will be a 20 percent discount for students, at least when the restaurant first opens.
Crawford says in addition to already winning numerous awards in its three short years in business, Wings & Things is known for having great discounts. That includes 75-cent wings on Mondays and Tuesdays, $5 catfish baskets on Sundays and $5 hamburger baskets on Wednesdays.
“We have really good weekly specials,” she says.
Along with wings, the restaurant sells burgers, sandwiches, salads, shrimp and its most popular item: catfish.
The new Wings & Things will seat about 40 and be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
“This location will even be open late night,” Crawford says.
Hours aren’t set yet, but they likely will extend to 2 a.m. on the weekends.
More Wings & Things locations are also likely, Crawford says.
“This won’t be it.”
