UPDATED – The former Stems space near Central and Woodlawn is going to be home to the third Wichita-area Supplement World and the fourth for the chain.
“It’s our biggest one yet,” CEO Dustin West says of the 2,650-square-foot space.
Stems moved to Cambridge Market, at 21st and Webb Road, earlier this year.
The new Supplement World space compares to 1,600 square feet for the newly remodeled store near Central and Ridge and about 1,000 square feet for the Andover and Oklahoma City stores.
“We’re going to have a lot more back-room area,” West says.
He says that also could be future office space as the company continues to grow.
There’s extra room for inventory, too.
Those are just some of the attractive features at the space, which is at 6370 E. Central, just a bit west of Central and Woodlawn.
“That intersection there is great visibility,” West says.
He says the store is visible from just about every angle of the intersection and will have a large monument sign as well.
The intersection also has high traffic volume, West says.
Krista Racine of J.P. Weigand & Sons and Lewis Kelley of OnPoint Property Group handled the deal.
Though the original Supplement World is in Andover, West says he feels like most east Wichita residents probably don’t travel there to shop.
“I don’t think we’re hitting the east-side market.”
Also, he says he thinks there’s a void in supplement stores in that part of the east side all the way to downtown.
“The majority of (the stores) are kind of concentrated on North Rock.”
With the new store, West says, “I think it’ll hit a good portion of the market.”
Now, West is working on a second Oklahoma store, though he says it’s not close to a done deal yet.
He says the new east-side store will open by Nov. 1 at the latest.
“We appreciate the support … we’ve received so far from Wichita.”
