It won’t be in time for Valentine’s Day, but Chaz and Julie Wolfe are bringing Edible Arrangements to Wichita in time for Easter and Mother’s Day.
The Overland Park residents operate three Edible Arrangements stores in the Kansas City area and have purchased the rights for the greater Wichita area.
Their first Wichita store will be in 1,415 square feet next to GNC at NewMarket Square at 21st and Maize Road. The second will be on the east side, though they haven’t picked a space yet.
“They’re both kind of the two hot spots,” Chaz Wolfe says.

Wolfe says he considered doing both stores at once, but Valentine’s is preventing him.
“It’s a pretty crazy time for us.”
The 1,100-store franchise sells bouquets made of fruit instead of flowers. It also has fruit dipped in chocolate, including some grab-and-go pieces instead of arrangements only, and a smoothie bar.
“That’s kind of the newest vision of Edible,” Wolfe says.
There’s no seating, but the idea is that customers will pop into the store to pick up items other than ones strictly for special occasions.
Wolfe says he has a sales background and wanted to own his own business, so he investigated franchises.
“You name it, I probably looked at it,” he says.
He says Edible Arrangements is growing fast and “is a super-fun product.”
He calls the arrangements “beautiful artwork.”
Wolfe says if he walks in a room, seven out of 10 people know Edible Arrangements and say “ooh and ahh.”
When he tells the other three what it is, he says, “Then they go ‘ooh and ahh.”
April Reed of Slawson Cos. handled the deal for the NewMarket space.
Wolfe says he’s already considering expanding in the greater Wichita area.
He hopes to open the NewMarket store in March.
Though it would have been nice to be open by Valentine’s Day, Wolfe says Mother’s Day “I’m sure will be a huge launching opportunity for us.”
