Kissy Nails is opening downtown in the next month or so, but it won’t be near Douglas and Washington as Christin Owens and some partners originally planned.
“We finally got a space nailed down,” Owens says of Zelman Lofts at the northeast corner of Douglas and St. Francis.
“It was a little bit of a challenge trying to find the perfect space downtown.”
The salon will be in what Owens calls a “very cozy” 1,100 square feet where Cassandra Bryan Design used to be. That business is now in the CorTen building at the southeast corner of Douglas and Market. Developers Robert Eyster and Michael Ramsey own both buildings.

Kissy, which is named after a nickname Owens’ grandmother gave him when he was a baby, will offer manicures, pedicures and eyelash extensions. There also will be eyebrow treatments and spray tanning.
Krista Racine of J.P. Weigand & Sons handled the deal.
Owens says he’s hired designers to transform the space. He says parking options are better than the other site he’d picked out.
“Things happen for a reason,” he says. “We got a better spot.”
