Joe Self has finalized a deal to sell his BMW dealership to the Wichita Luxury Collection, which is part of the Scholfield Auto Group.
“I thought it was a good business decision,” Self says. “This allows us to take all of our energy and resources for GM.”
Self still owns Joe Self Chevrolet-Cadillac at 8801 E. Kellogg. He’s moving his preowned car center into the space BMW previously occupied at 8701 E. Kellogg.
“We can operate in a more efficient manner and do a better job for all of our GM customers,” Self says.

He’s had the BMW franchise since 1990. Self says selling is “strictly a business decision.”
“It’s a great franchise,” Steve Hatchett, a Scholfield partner. “It’s a luxury franchise very similar to the franchises that we currently have. It’d just be a great addition to our luxury collection.”
The Luxury Collection includes Mercedes Benz, Audi, Lexus, Land Rover, Jaguar, Acura and Porsche. The dealership faces Greenwich just north of Home Bank & Trust at the northwest corner of 13th and Greenwich.
Hatchett says the dealership will build three new buildings to the west of the bank, facing 13th Street, for the BMW, Acura and Porsche franchises. He says he expects the buildings to be built simultaneously this spring.
“It’s just a matter of getting the plans done and getting factory approval on those,” he says. “We think that we can get that accomplished.”
