When Ann and Warren Tandoc opened their Espresso To Go Go at the Zelman Lofts, part of a wall had to temporarily come down in order for their disco ball to fit.
It’s now a permanent fixture at the building, Warren Tandoc says, because it’ll be too hard to ever remove it.
Even though they have the same landlords at their newest location – Michael Ramsey and Robert Eyster at the Lux at First and Market – the Tandocs won’t have the same ceiling decoration.
“So I said, Ann. Warren. You can’t have a disco ball,” Ramsey says.

That’s because Espresso To Go Go shares lighting with an office at the Lux.
“They didn’t want us to sparkle it up too much, apparently,” Warren Tandoc says.
He didn’t mind, though.
The new place features a flying unicorn hanging from the ceiling instead.
“The scale of it is amazing,” Tandoc says.
He says customers “think it’s funny and strange, and that’s kind of what we were going for.”
The unicorn is still waiting on some red LED lights for its eyes. It also doesn’t have a name yet.
“No,” Tandoc says, “we’re working on it.”
