Hunter Health this week is moving some of its administrative offices to Meritrust Center, Meritrust Credit Union’s headquarters downtown at First and Main streets.

“We need additional space to house our support services so we can ensure that we have the space on our campus to provide direct patient care,” Hunter Health CEO Amy Feimer said in a news release. “We also have a number of employees working remotely that require office space from time to time.”

Almost 50 Hunter Health workers are moving into Meritrust’s fifth floor.

Hunter Health has four Sedgwick County clinics to treat low-income Wichitans and those from surrounding communities. Services include medical, dental, vision and behavioral health among other things.

Four years ago, the nonprofit built a new 22,000-square-foot clinic at Central and Grove but already is outgrowing it. Once some of the administrative offices are out, the spaces can be reconfigured for patient care.

No one at Hunter Health is discussing it yet, but it sounds like there will be another major expansion at the Central and Grove site in the next few years. Look for more information on that as it becomes available.

Also in the news release, Meritrust president and CEO James Nastars said Hunter Health’s mission aligns well with the credit union’s, which he said is “to improve the lives of our members and the communities we serve.”
