Another new business is opening at Waterfront Plaza, the retail center at the northwest corner of 13th and Webb Road that is home to Whole Foods Market.
Mary Lindeman is opening Plaza Wine & Spirits a couple of doors north of where Whole Foods opened last month.
“Mary thinks it’ll be a nice supplement to Whole Foods,” says Ron Groves, who employed Lindeman at his Groves Retail Liquor for about a decade.
Groves is going to “consult from time to time” for Lindeman, who declines to comment on the store.

Groves says Whole Foods customers will “be able to do the whole shopping experience and include wine.”
He says the new store will be in about 4,000 square feet and will be upscale with an emphasis on wine and high-end spirits.
“There’s going to be a nice store there with a good inventory,” Groves says.
He says Lindeman “liked the location, and the developers … are great people to work with.“
Groves’ own store is not far away at Kellogg and Webb, but he says he’s not worried that Plaza Wine & Spirits will take away from Groves Retail Liquor.
“At my age, I’m not worrying about too much except breathing every day.”
