Allmetal Recycling has acquired Kelly's Salvage in Harper.

"It expands our reach into the southern part of Kansas pretty well," says co-owner Clint Cornejo.

He says his company has done business through the years with Jim Kelly, who wanted to sell his company and retire.

"It was just a good match for both of us," Cornejo says.

He says he plans to grow the almost 70-year-old Harper business, which already goes into counties around it as well as northern Oklahoma.

Allmetal Recycling and its sister company, AMR Steel & Supply, have almost 80 employees.

Cornejo says AMR "expands as we grow the scrap business."

He says the same customers who recycle often need new steel, too.

"It's just more of a segue to what we do."
