Charisma, an Aveda salon and spa, is going to trim more than hair next month.
Owners Robin and Bob Wolfe are trimming the size of their west-side Charisma with a move from 5,000 square feet at 7721 W. 21st St. to 2,300 square feet at 10607 W. Maple next to Paradise Donuts.
"It's such a good, refreshing change for us," Robin Wolfe says.
She says she reinvents her 30-year-old business about every 10 years.
When Charisma first opened on the west side in 1988, she says, "We were like one of three salons on the west side of town. Isn't that crazy?"
Twenty years ago, she built the current 5,000-square-foot space.
"Women used to spend, you know, half a day with us in the spa," Wolfe says. "In today's world (with) our lifestyles, we don't do that. We still get those services, we just don't spend a whole day doing it."
Charisma will offer all of its same services in the new space.
"We're just not going to be all spread out," Wolfe says.
She says few Wichita salons are 5,000 square feet these days.
"I'm just simplifying," she says. "To simplify my world is going to be a wonderful thing."
That includes a personal move, too, off of 12 acres. Wolfe and her husband, who is fire chief of Arkansas City, are moving there.
The Charisma move will happen June 11.
A medical user is going to move into the current Charisma space. Look for more information on that soon.
Cristi Howell of J.P. Weigand & Sons handled the deal.
There won't be any changes with the east-side Charisma at the Waterfront.
In addition to simplifying, Wolfe says there's another bonus to moving near Maple and Maize Road: easy-access doughnuts next door at Paradise.
"Are you loving that?" she says. "We're pretty stoked.
