UPDATED — With two new leases, Cambridge Market at the southeast corner of 21st and Webb Road is now 100 percent leased with local tenants.
"It's just a great little neighborhood center," says property manager Cathy Erickson.
Bespoke Salon Co. opened this week in 1,400 square feet next to Cafe Maurice, though the salon's grand opening party was on Saturday.
Evy Andra says she and business partner Kyle Owen chose the name Bespoke, which means made to order, because they want "to create a custom experience for everyone."
She says first, it's about creating "a really encouraging and loving culture" for the staff, which for now is seven people including the owners.
"Having really healthy stylists is going to create a positive experience for our guests."
Brightway Insurance also is opening at Cambridge Market in just over 1,000 square feet next to Livingston's Diner in June.
Kayla Schabel and her father, Shawn, are opening the franchise.
"They've grown pretty big pretty quickly," she says.
Schabel says Brightway has access to more than 100 different insurance carriers. When she and her father open, they'll start with access to 20 to 50 carriers for home and auto insurance and eventually will include life insurance as well. Schabel says their specialty will be creating individualized plans that clients can easily compare to other plans.
"It's a one-stop shop for you."
The business will open around the third week of June.
Erickson says it's been several years since Cambridge Market was fully occupied.
"Honestly, I think it's a byproduct of everything else that's going on . . . in that corridor," she says.
There's a lot of growth at that intersection and just down the road at 21st and Greenwich.
Also, Erickson says there are a lot of attractions with the 43,000-square-foot Cambridge Market, which has 19 tenants. She cites its affordability, range of tenants, parking, accessibility and — soon — its senior citizen discounts on Tuesdays.
"It's just a sweet spot in the retail world, I believe."
