QuikTrip took its time but finally has what all the other guys do

At long last, QuikTrip finally has chip readers installed on all of its credit card machines in the greater Wichita area.

It seems like a long time since most other retailers changed to them.

“Obviously, we took our time,” says Mike Thornbrugh, spokesman for the Tulsa company.

“We wanted to make sure that we did it the right way,” he says. “We’ll be able to still have a lot of speed in our transactions.”

Thornbrugh says he’s not complaining about having to make the change or trying to cut down on fraud.

“Who’s not against that?”

However, he says it was a costly change.

For all of the chain’s stores, the company spent “probably in the millions.”

“It’s just a shame you’ve got to spend that kind of money,” Thornbrugh says. “Unfortunately, that’s the world we live in.”

The flight crews for QT Air talk about the Garmin G5000. They fly four Learjet 75s to visit the QuikTrip’s 750 stores across 11 states.
