Hannah Banana is preparing to move from its longtime storefront near Douglas and Hillside, but the store also is going to be returning to its roots by selling only children’s clothing in its new space.
“You know, I love being on Douglas, and I love a lot of what they’re doing on Douglas,” owner Germaine Hall says. “We just don’t get a lot of traffic.”
The store has been in about 1,200 square feet at 2828 E. Douglas for 14 years. On Monday, it will open in about 1,500 square feet at 5900 E. Central just east of Edgemoor in the same building as Picasso’s Pizzeria.
Though the store is not gaining a lot of extra square feet, Hall says she’s gaining a lot more hanging space, a nice bathroom and an upgraded, dedicated changing room.

She also thinks the store will benefit from drive-by traffic.
“There’s way more people over there.”
Hall and a partner bought into the 14-year-old resale shop two years ago, but now she’s the sole owner.
At the new space, Hall says she’ll sell children’s clothing up to size 14. She says she decided to drop women’s clothing because there’s so much competition, though she’ll still sell handbags and other items that come in.
The store will be open regular hours, which are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, starting Monday.
Also, the old store will be open the same hours on March 10, 17 and 31 as Hall liquidates her women’s clothing.
“We’re just going to go back to what we’re good at.”
