Div23 Inc. is not quite six months old, and it’s already expanding to new space due to growth.
“We are adding more employees and starting a local training center,” says Tim Berends, one of three partners in the business.
The company sells heating and air conditioning products to mechanical contractors. It also assists mechanical engineering firms with mechanical designs for new buildings.
Its name stands for Division 23, which is the mechanical specification section of blueprints for new buildings.

“It’s kind of a play on the words,” Berends says.
Div23 started with three employees and now has seven. Three are in Wichita, three are in Lenexa and one in Manhattan who travels between the offices.
The current Wichita office is in 400 square feet at 205 W. Second St.
The new office, where the firm will move in a couple of weeks, will be in 3,400 square feet at 420 S. Emporia in Suite 300.
Berends says the training facility eventually will have operating equipment to train contractors on operations and troubleshooting.
He says the new space should be enough room for some growth to come.
“That is our hope.”
