Last month when Wichita’s original Pie Five Pizza closed, franchisee Jim Stevens said he was offered a deal for the land and building that he couldn’t pass up.
It turns out Fort Worth-based KSCR16 LLC is the buyer, but it’s not planning another restaurant for the popular restaurant corridor.
“We’re putting an AT&T store there,” says Mike Mellinger, national real estate director for Cellular World, a KSCR16 sister company.
“It’s a strong retail area.”

The store will be at 334 S. Ridge Road, which is just south of Maple.
“We’ve been looking for a location in this general vicinity for a couple of years,” Mellinger says.
Spring Mobility, a division of Dallas-based GameStop, will operate the store.
“We’re in the design phase,” Mellinger says. “The exterior’s not going to change very much.”
Jon Cyphert of Jon Cyphert Commercial Real Estate handled the deal.
KSCR16 also is working on new AT&T stores just south of Patriot and Rock Road in Derby and near the southeast corner of Kellogg and Andover Road in Andover. The Derby store is under construction now and should be ready by October. Mellinger says the Andover store is about 30 days behind that.
He says the AT&T store opening in the former Pie Five space will be ready first.
“We plan on having this open … hopefully by the end of September.”
