Wichita’s original Pie Five Pizza has closed.
“We closed our Maple and Ridge store down Saturday night,” franchisee Jim Stevens says.
“Somebody made me a really good offer on my land and building, and I just couldn’t pass it up.”
The deal will be finalized this week. The new occupant won’t be a restaurant.

This is the second of Stevens’ three Pie Five Pizzas to close. He closed the one near 29th and Maize Road in April.
Stevens says his first Pie Five started off well when he opened it in 2014.
“It was just going crazy,” he says. “It stayed that way for almost a year.”
He says all of a sudden about a year and a half ago, sales dropped for his Pie Fives and others nationally.
“I don’t know why that happened, but it did.”
Stevens thinks it’s an issue that the restaurants don’t offer delivery.
He still has his Pie Five near 21st and Rock Road.
“We’re going to keep that store open as long as we can. It’s still doing pretty good. … We’ll just see what happens.”
