Wichita Furniture is getting some fun and unexpected attention through Google’s annual economic impact report.
Google chooses a company from each state to profile in its report, and it chose the Wichita company to feature from Kansas this year.
“That’s pretty cool, isn’t it?” says Wichita Furniture president Jay Storey. “They’ve never chosen anybody from Wichita.”
Wichita Furniture is the parent company of Wichita Furniture at 13th and Oliver, which also houses Furniture on Consignment. The company also has two Ashley HomeStores.

“We’ve been focusing very hard on our digital marketing,” Storey says.
“Our digital imprint made an impact to them,” he says. “We showed up on their radar … as a company that’s growing and as a company that’s trying to be a multichannel advertiser.”
As part of being selected, Storey is going to get a free trip to visit Google headquarters and meet with Google employees.
“They call them Googlers,” he says.
“We’re pretty honored,” Storey says. “It’s a big deal.”
