The law firm Cameron & Herrman is expanding into a new area of law.
The firm formed in January 2016 to do family law, guardianship, adoption and child-in-need-of-care work.
With the addition of associate attorney Kenneth Newton, the firm will begin practicing criminal law on Wednesday.
Newton, who has been with the public defender’s office for two decades, will be the fourth attorney at the firm.
“Our goal is to continue to expand our practice areas,” attorney Monica Cameron says.
“Criminal is the first one that we wanted to add. There’s just a lot of need for that.”
She says with family law, there often are related criminal cases, such as domestic violence cases “where our clients need some help in those areas also.”
