Mechanical engineer Ricardo Flores isn’t giving up his day job, but his mother has inspired him to start a side business.
Homekeep is what Flores describes as “like Uber for home services.”
Customers can instantly book the residential cleaning service through their phones, tablets or computers. Flores says a lot of cleaning services require a home visit and estimate first.
He’s working on an app for the service now and eventually plans to add lawn care and concierge services.

Flores says his mother has been cleaning homes for more than a decade, and he says he saw a way to streamline the reservation process for customers “to bring it into the 21st century.”
Though they can book instantly, he says, the earliest the service is available – at least for now – is the next day.
The company’s site is www.tryhomekeep.com.
“It’s a good business that can grow,” Flores says. “I thought it was a good way to start.”
