Three car dealerships change names to reflect new owners

With the sale of Wichita’s Luxury Collection last year, a longtime partnership between the Scholfield and Hatchett families ended. That’s resulting in a name change at three other car dealerships.

Both Wichita Scholfield Hyundai dealerships will now be known as Hatchett Hyundai, and the Scholfield Buick-GMC store will now be Hatchett Buick-GMC.

The dealerships are all part of Hatchett Devlin Automotive Group.

“It has been an honor to run with the Scholfield name for so many years,” group president Scott Hatchett said in a statement. “The Scholfields have been wonderful partners and great friends through the years.”

He further said in the statement that nothing will change but the names.

“No matter what name is on the sign, customers can expect the same top-notch customer service from the same great employees they have come to over the past 26 years,” Hatchett said. “We have no plans of changing how we run the family business.”

In late 2016, Hatchett and brothers Tim and Tommy Devlin bought the three dealerships from their fathers, Steve Hatchett and Tom Devlin, who became partners in 1990.

In 1999, Scott Hatchett became managing partner.

“We’re proud of this community where we were all born and raised,” he said, “and the time is right to have the names of the dealerships reflect the family owners and better align us to continue to grow and expand on our footprint here in Wichita and Kansas.”
