Chris Myers always planned to rebrand his businesses with only his name, and now he has.

After Myers bought Unruh Automotive near 21st and Woodlawn in 2009 and started AutoMD in Derby in 2012, he added his name to the other names of the businesses.

Now, though, they’ll simply be known as Myers Automotive.

“I decided, obviously, to put everything under one umbrella,” Myers says.

The move comes in advance of him opening a third business at 936 N. Andover this spring.

“We hope to have it as our flagship store … for future locations to be modeled after,” Myers says.

The store will be 9,200 square feet. It’s the first one he’s building from the ground up, so Myers says the layout will be ideal.

Myers expanded the former Unruh space in 2014. It’s now 6,500 square feet.

“We are actually starting to need more space,” Myers says.

He’s buying a 6,000-square-foot building a couple of doors down for overflow work with an additional crew.

Myers has even bigger expansions in mind, though.

“I’d like to put at least one more (store) in Wichita and then expand out of the Wichita market,” he says.

He’s leaning toward starting in Kansas City and then possibly going to Oklahoma City.

Myers says he has even bigger news, including another new name: Nolan. It’s his son.

“I just welcomed my first child into the world Friday.”
