Boeing names new Wichita site leader

Steve Wade, who's spent his professional career at Boeing Wichita, has been named site leader of the Wichita operations.

Wade was named general manager of Global Transport & Executive Systems in November.

The GTES leader's role and site leader were integrated into one position as part of a restructuring plan, the company said.

Wade replaces Scott Strode as Wichita's site leader. Strode came to Wichita in 2008.

Strode will move to Washington state, where he will serve as vice president of operations and quality for global services and support.

The Boeing Wichita facility is working to streamline its operations.

"As we have said before, we have challenges controlling our costs within the competitive range to be as lean as possible while still providing world-class support to our customers," Wade said in a memo to employees this week.

This move will support that goal.

"We have significant opportunities going forward," he said.

Wade was born in Garden City and grew up in Burdett, south of Hays.

He joined Boeing after earning a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology from Kansas State University.
