Interior designer, HFG Architecture
Kolins’ brother, an architectural engineer, suggested she consider interior design as a college major.
“He knows me pretty well,” she said. “He said, ‘Hey, you’re really creative. You’d enjoy doing something like this.’ ”
And he was right.
“I fell in love with it,” she said.
Kolins, 23, grew up in Lenexa. She majored in interior design at Kansas State University and had a secondary major in gerontology.
“That was really valuable, understanding how people age, their visual and tactile impairment,” she said.
HFG specializes in architecture focused on health care. Clients Kolins has worked for so far include an eye clinic and the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center.
Kolins enjoys photography, running, biking, backpacking and other outdoor activities.
