Google is one of the buyers of the energy generated by a new Kansas wind farm, it was announced Friday at a news conference in Topeka.

Enel Green Power North America recently started construction on the Cimarron Bend wind farm in Clark County, south of Dodge City.

The $610 million wind farm will have capacity for 400 megawatts. Google will buy 200 megawatts, while the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities will buy the rest.

Enel Green Power North America already owns and operates four wind farms in Kansas and is the largest operator in the state’s wind sector with a total operating capacity of close to 1 gigawatt.
