Commercial airplane maker Airbus split bragging rights on orders and deliveries with rival Boeing in 2014.
Airbus said Tuesday that it took more orders than Boeing, but delivered fewer aircraft than its Chicago-based competitor.
Airbus said it delivered 629 aircraft in 2014, a record for the jetliner company based in Toulouse, France.
Boeing announced last week that it delivered a record 723 airplanes last year.

Airbus said its orders for the year totaled 1,456. That was 33 more than Boeing’s 1,423.
The two planemakers have battled for years for dominance in the commercial aviation market, and both have benefited from an unprecedented demand for their products. Backlogs at both companies are expected to keep plants humming for several years to come.
In Wichita, Airbus operates Airbus Americas Engineering, which has two offices in Old Town and employs about 400 people. The Wichita engineering center works on aerostructures design and analysis of components, such as wings and fuselages for Airbus aircraft.
Airbus said its 2014 deliveries were to 89 customers, of which eight were new.
Its aircraft deliveries in 2014 included: 490 A320 Family aircraft; 108 A330s; 30 A380s and one A350 XWB.
Airbus said 2014 was its 13th straight year of increasing aircraft deliveries.
Wichita-based Spirit AeroSystems supplies parts for Airbus and Boeing jets. For Airbus, it manufactures parts of the wings of the A320, A380 and A350 XWB jetliners, as well as the mid-section of the A350 XWB fuselage.
Spirit builds parts of all Boeing’s commercial airplanes, including the 737 fuselage and the forward, or cockpit, section of the 767, 777 and 787.
Teal Group analyst Richard Aboulafia said in the contest of most orders and deliveries, deliveries matter most.
“It’s deliveries,” he said. “Deliveries are when cash changes hands. … You can’t buy lunch (based) on tail numbers.”
Aboulafia said based on his estimates, which factor in the discounts jetmakers give their customers, Boeing earned $56.2 billion and Airbus earned $42 billion in revenue from their deliveries of commercial airplanes in 2014.
Neither Boeing nor Airbus disclosed sales figures in their 2014 deliveries announcements.
