Orscheln became the highest bidder for buying Alco’s distribution center in Abilene, Kan.
According to court documents from the Bankruptcy court of the Northern District of Texas, Orscheln, the farm and rural chain store, submitted the highest bid for the Abilene Distribution center. The document refers to the center as part of the “Orscheln Sale Assets.”
In addition to the property, the document states that with the purchase, Orscheln will acquire personal property assets located or connected to the Distribution Center.
Alco, an Abilene classic that dates back to 1901 and grew from a small store to a chain brand across 23 states, filed for bankruptcy this fall. It is in the process of closing all its stores, including more than $260 million in inventory, fixtures and equipment.
