People You Should Know (Dec. 18)


Michelle Schneider of Great Bend has been elected the 2014-15 chair of the Kansas Society of CPAs. Schneider is a principal with Adams, Brown, Beran & Ball in Great Bend.


Randy Ware, manager of the Business Advising Center at Wichita State University, has earned a Certificate in Supervision from the Center for Management Development at Wichita State University.

Greg Geer, director of maintenance for Maize USD 266, has earned a Certificate in Supervision from the Center for Management Development at Wichita State University.

Two Kansas State University graduates, Corey Fortin, Kampala, Uganda, and Matt King, Washington, D.C., are the recipients of the K-State Alumni Association Student Alumni Board's 2015 Distinguished Young Alumni Award. Fortin is a native of Oberlin and King is from Wichita.


Wesley Johnson, an environmental scientist, has joined ISI Environmental and will provide technical consulting and project management support for environmental, health and safety compliance projects and provide customer service to a variety of clients.

Health Care

The Kansas State Nurses Association has inducted physician Diana Guthrie into its KSNA Hall of Fame. Guthrie was nominated by her peers in recognition of her expertise in caring for patients with diabetes.

Tim Barker has been named rehabilitation services director at Wesley Medical Center. Barker had been serving as interim director for the past four months.

Mary Hotze, a licensed clinical marriage and family therapist and registered play therapist supervisor, has joined the staff at Prairie View.

Angela Gragg has been named director of pediatric services at Wesley Medical Center. Gragg has held a variety of nurse managements positions at Wesley since she began her career as a a pediatric nurse in 1983. Gragg is also an adjunct nursing instructor at Tabor College.


Phung Van and Nicholas Cannady have joined the Kansas General Office of New York Life Insurance as agents.

Real Estate

Ann Jackson, Sherry Jones and Linda Nugent of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty (formerly Prudential Dinning-Beard) have earned the designation of Accredited Buyer’s Representative from the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council of the National Association of Realtors.


Jason Jabara has been named CEO of Jabara’s Carpet Outlet. Tom Jabara, former CEO, will remain with the company as owner and president.
