Intrust Bank Arena’s finance chief receives CPA award

The head of finance at Intrust Bank Arena is one of four winners of a statewide accountants awards program for women.

The Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of CPAs said Chris Kibler, IBA’s assistant general manager and director of finance, has won an Emerging Leader award in the groups’ annual Women to Watch program.

The awards recognize women CPAs in two categories: Experienced leaders are those who are in higher-level leadership positions within their respective organizations and contribute to their profession and community. Emerging leaders are women who are early in their CPA careers but are already demonstrating leadership and contributions outside the office.

The other winner of an Emerging Leader award was Julie Wondra, manager of Adams Brown Beran & Ball in McPherson.

Becky Casey, department chairwoman of accounting and computer information systems at Pittsburg State University, and Karen Linn, managing director of Berberich Trahan & Co in Topeka, were named recipients of the Experienced Leaders award.

They competed with 10 other women CPAs from across the state for the awards, including seven from Wichita.

The winners will receive their awards at a Sept. 13 luncheon at the Wichita Country Club.
