Wal-Mart Neighborhood store plans grand opening activities

The first Wal-Mart Neighborhood store in Derby will hold several grand opening activities, according to a news release.

The store at 1106 S. Rock Road will have a ribbon cutting at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday and then open officially at 8 a.m.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, the store will have a number of activities, including some free food, mascot appearances and a bounce house.

About $4,500 in grants from Wal-Mart and the Wal-Mart Foundation will be presented to the Derby Police Department, Derby Recreation Commission and the Kansas Food Bank as part of the opening.

Regular store hours will be from 6 a.m. to midnight daily.
