Kansas ranks 18th overall in the health measures and policies that relate to senior citizens, according to the recently released United Health Foundation’s 2013 America’s Health Rankings Senior Report.
The report looked at health behaviors, policy measures, community and environment, and clinical care measures.
Kansas was second among states for the high rate of quality nursing home beds.
Other rankings in the report include 33rd for senior obesity, 29th for senior smoking, 37th for senior diabetes and 30th for physical inactivity.
In 2012, Kansas was ranked 24th overall for the entire population.
