Bank of America has closed one of two branches in Salina..
The bank closed its branch at 138 N. Santa Fe Friday, a Bank of America spokeswoman said in an e-mail Thursday to the Eagle.
That leaves the bank with a branch at 2259 S. Ninth.
Bank of America is one of 11 banks doing business in Salina and ranks eighth in deposits — $67.5 million — according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.’s June 2012 Deposit Market Share Report, the latest data available.
The Salina branch is the second Kansas branch for which Bank of America has closed or plans to close this year.
Last month, the bank confirmed plans to close its Newton branch June 7.
The bank will have 52 offices in the state with the closing of the Salina and Newton branches. That’s down from a high of 66 Kansas branches in 2002.
