Clinic in a Can will send two specialized clinics built in shipping containers to other countries this week, according to a news release
Clinic in a Can is part of Hospitals of Hope, a medical nonprofit organization founded in Wichita in 1998.
The organization will send a radiology clinic to a children’s hospital in Sierra Leone on Wednesday. It will send and its first solar-powered clinic to a Global Vision Citadelle Ministries’ orphanage in Haiti on Friday.
The public is invited to tour the solar-powered clinic from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Thursday at 3545 N. Santa Fe.
The radiology clinic will have a patient waiting room, technician work area and radiology suite. The $55,000 clinic was funded through U.K.-based nonprofit Welbodi Partnership.
The solar-powered clinic will include a dental exam room, medical exam room, laboratory and mechanical room. The clinic cost about $75,000 and was funded through GVCM, donations and grants, said Daniel White, Clinic in a Can assistant director.
