Officials from Occidental Management said they broke ground this week on the second of four planned buildings for its Offices at Cranbrook development in northeast Wichita.
Work has started on the basement of the 10,800-square-foot building, said Chad Stafford and Gary Oborny, president and CEO, respectively, of Occidental.
The Class A office development at 10111 E. 21st St., east of Webb Road, comprises eight acres, including a three-acre pond.
The development’s first building, a 12,240-square-foot structure, is expected to be complete and open in April, Stafford said.

Oborny said the two buildings combined are 70 percent leased.
Stafford said he hopes to have the second building completed by June or July.
Union State Bank and neurologist Eva Henry will be two of the first building’s tenants.
“We hope to announce in a number of weeks another group” of tenants who have signed leases, Oborny said.
Arkansas City-based Union State will occupy 3,450 square feet that fronts 21st Street. Eric Kurtz, Union State president, and Brent Beckman, the $250 million bank’s Wichita president, said four staff members will initially work out of the five-office space. The office will continue to operate as a loan production office focusing largely on commercial loans. However, Beckman said the bank plans to add mortgage lending to its Wichita operations.
The Cranbrook space will be three times larger than the bank’s current space at 151 S. Whittier, west of Towne East Square. And Union State’s new location as an end-cap tenant at Cranbrook will make the bank a lot more noticeable to passersby, bank officials said. “We’re just gaining a little visibility here,” Beckman said.
Union State is also one of two banks financing the development. Rose Hill Bank is the other.
Cranbrook’s other named tenant is Eva Henry, who is moving her medical practice from an office along Webb Road to a 2,800-square-foot space. The neurologist, who specializes in Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, said the Cranbrook location is more affordable and puts her office close to K-96. Ted Branson of Landmark Commercial Real Estate represented Henry on the lease.
Sauerwein Construction is the general contractor. Spangenberg Phillips Tice is the architect.
