Wages rise in Sedgwick County

Total wages in Sedgwick County rose 7.6 increase in the first quarter compared to the first quarter of 2011, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The size of the gain puts the county 42nd among the country’s largest 329 counties.

Total wages reflect both increases in employment and wages. But the increase in employment in Sedgwick County was relatively small, 0.9 percent, meaning that most of the increase in the average wage, to $880 per person per week, came in the form of higher wages.
