New contest seeks to recognize Midwest’s 50 fastest growing firms

Five Elms Capital, a Prairie Village venture capital firm, has created a contest to recognize the 50 fastest-growing companies in the Midwest.

Called the Flyover50, the awards are based on percentage revenue growth over three years among firms that generated more than $1 million in revenue in 2011.

“The middle of the country has ridiculously been viewed as a flyover zone," Fred Coulson, managing partner of Five Elms Capital, said in a news release. "We think the Flyover 50 will show that there are plenty of reasons to land here.”

It is open to companies in all industries in 20 states including Kansas. Applications are due May 18 and can be obtained at flyover50.com/apply-now/. Nominations can be made at http://flyover50.com/nominate/.

Applications are tabulated by accounting firm BKD.

Winners will receive an honorary plaque at the awards banquet and a press packet with the Flyover 50 logo for their website and marketing materials. Honorees will also receive free services from Flyover 50 sponsors, including a capital structure and governance review from Husch Blackwell, a business and tax physical from LWBJ Financial, and an insurance review from IMA.
