Westar Energy is erecting a 2.4 kilowatt wind turbine at Circle High School in Towanda today.
It will be near the sports complex south of the high school, according to information provided by Westar.
The turbine at Circle High School is part of Kansas State University’s Kansas Wind for Schools program. As part of the program, the school must incorporate wind energy into its science curriculum.
Westar has erected turbines at Walton Elementary School in Walton and Ell-Saline High School in Brookville in 2008; Pretty Prairie High School in Pretty Prairie and Blue Valley High School in Randolph in 2009; Hope Academy in Topeka and Smoky Valley High School in Lindsborg in 2010; Eudora High School and Jefferson West High School in 2011.
