Many Wichita taxi drivers made an unusual lunch stop Tuesday – picking up sack lunches from characters made famous by the “Star Wars” movie series.
The lunch event was planned by Go Wichita Convention and Visitors Bureau to recognize how cab drivers support tourism in Wichita.
Supported by the local travel and tourism industry, the event was part of a week that highlights the economic impact of tourism. Taxi drivers were invited to stop by the Go Wichita office at WaterWalk, where they received free sack lunches.
Members of the staff at Exploration Place, dressed as “Star Wars” characters, helped hand out the lunches, part of the museum’s promotion of an upcoming exhibit.
