Several businesses and organizations in south-central Kansas were nominated for the 2012 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.
The Freedom Award is the Department of Defense’s highest recognition for employers supporting members of the National Guard and Reserve. Up to 15 recipients will be announced this summer and honored in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 20 at the 17th annual Freedom Award Ceremony.
More than 3,200 employers were nominated. They were nominated by the Kansas Guard and Reserve members they employ, or their family members.
Those employers nominated were El Dorado Correctional Facility, MKC in Moundridge, Hawker Beechcraft Defense Co., Sedgwick County Court Trustee’s Office, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, Spirit AeroSystems and Boeing.
