Hawker Beechcraft made its first sale of its T-6C+ military trainer to the Mexican Air Force, the company said today.
Mexico’s air force has signed a contract for six of the trainers.
The T-6C+ is an enhanced version of the T-6 military trainer used by the U.S. Air Force and Navy.
The plane is capable of delivering practice weapons for training purposes.
The first two of the six will be delivered to an advanced training base in Mexico’s northern region early this year. The new trainers will replace the military’s aging PC-7 fleet.
“We see this sale of six aircraft as just the beginning of a long and production relationship with FAM (Mexican Air Force),” Jim Maslowski, president of Hawker Beechcraft’s defense business, said in a statement.
