The Pipeline entrepreneur grooming program has named a slate of national entrepreneurs and experts to judge its annual Innovator of the Year award competition.
The organization said today that the judges will be: Suren G. Dutia, a senior fellow, and Robert E. Litan, vice president for research and policy, both of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation; Lars Perkins, co-founder of Picasa, Compete.com and Webhire; and Tom Pickens III, president and CEO of Astrotech in Austin, and a member of Pipeline’s national advisory board.
Entrepreneurs chosen for the year-long fellowship program accumulate points for the competition. They are also evaluated by the panel of judges in a mock competition where they pitch their business plans to investors.
Two Wichitans — Gerald Rues of Electronic Sensors and Brian Williamson of JCB Labs — are among this year’s class of entrepreneurs vying for the award, the winner of which will be announced at an event on Jan. 26 in Overland Park.
